Mother's Day

2008 Another challenge on the SAMinis group
to make a Mother's Day Vignette using a ready-made frame

One of the group members was bemoaning an infestation of mice
in her workroom in the week leading up to Mother's Day and this was the result!

"Figaro" the cat bearing a gift for his "Mum"
The cat & mouse are both made from Fimo polymer clay - the mouse
is very crude - I'm still finding it difficult to go really small!
The cat is built on an armature but as this is another first timer
I haven't shown close-ups!

This was a simple project and only required a backing box
and a half circle of plywood to extend the setting from of the frame.

Papering and adding the cornice and skirting was quick and easy.

The Cape Dutch demi-lune table was made from yellowwood and stinkwood
by the late Tom Jackson of Grahamstown.

The simple hand made Bunka carpet -
my design - made in a workshop given by Elana Ross of MGCT.

I am surprised at the amount of detail one can create using this technique.

The Irises are by Erika Gross of Cape Town who makes the most exquisite flowers and also willingly shares her expertise with us at MGCT.
